A great and unique railway station with multiple layers. It is a junction of 3 different lines. Place has wifi and lots of facilities to eat and drink. Architecturally it is a great example of Czechoslovak socalist modernism which I totally love.

Good train station, has plenty of information about train arrivals and departures. Only loses a star for the confusing bathroom situation. Bathrooms cost 50c, I think. Or maybe it's 50c to buy toilet paper to bring into the bathroom with you. I couldn't quite figure it out. Information is on the wall but unfortunately I couldn't translate it from slovakian.

To plan for at least 3 days during your stay in that area In summer 2017 we stayed in Poprad surroundings. We traveled with kids (2, 5, 8) and decided to dedicate one day to get some see sight around the Tatre main railway stations. We bought a one day all direction tickets and left the Poprad station in the morning. On the upper floor of the station is a strting departure point for Tatranská elektrická železnica (TEŽ) that will take you to various locations and villages of the Tatra mountains. The TEŽ is used by locals to travel to work and back and for everyday movements a lot of tourists are always on the train. You should get some good info in advance what to see on each station and hos long to stay. The options are just endless You can take some walk around the towns and villages where the train stop and take the next one to get in the next village or back to Poprad. On each place you have some easy or more demanding hiking tour or on some you can take the cable way to even more remote locations or hiking trips. Our experience was actually limited because in one day with the TEŽ we get some walk arround the lakes of Štrbské Pleso, the town on the station Starý Šmakovec and Tatranská Lomnica at the end we get back with the regular train to Poprad from that last station. All the villages was picturesque and interesting to get around, have something to eat or just a coffee in bar and restaurants. We get some wrong info on the Poprad train station about the things that are available to see with kids (a mini ZOO that was supposed to be in Tatranská Lomnica at the end was in an unreachable area for a day trip) but OK at the need the day was too short. Anyway our suggestion is to take as a minimum 3 or more days and to plan what to see each day, the tickets are available for different periods depending on your needs.
