I am highly recommend to stay at Gran hostel in Banska Bystrica in Slovakia. The hostel manager Anna is so helpful and kind to help. I love to stay in gran hotel. I had good time there and meet to nice people.

OVER-RATED, YOU CAN FIND A WAY BETTER ONE. Very flat welcoming vibes from the host. The overall cleaning of the place as soon as we have arrived were very poor. Messy kitchen, sticky floor everywhere, dusty and hair everywhere in the toilets. Our beds were also full of hair and in the bedroom carpet got very wet for a no-functioning-well radiator. There are 2 Wc available for over 10 people which is fine, but one of them didn't flush and many times you were finding other people's "surprises". Race the whole floor to get a hot shower since the very old boiler has limited hot water. The hostel it's accessible to anyone during daytime since the hostel shares the gate with the pharmacy downstairs. We were not feeling safe at all, better lock your room at night time too. Noisy roads from people and cars. The hostel os located in front of a pub and close to the town's church that rings for 5 minutes long every 30 minutes during the day from 8.30am Sorry but I will never go back there again. On top of it, some of our sealed food got open (some cheese from Austria) and had to throw it away.
This was the best hostel I‘ve ever been to. They have extremely beautiful rooms, the hostel is very central, the staff is very friendly and willing to help in every case and all that for a more than reasonable price. What also amazes me is that they are environmentally very aware and separate the trash or offer food for free instead of throwing it away. I forgot my book there, but the staff was very helpful and they found it. Recommend you to stay there very much! All the best wishes from me!
The best hostel I've ever been. Perfect location in the city center. Amazing staff. The owners are experienced travelers always ready to help. Clean a cozy rooms. Strongly recommend!

Great hostel. Clean, well equipped and very nice staff. Also great location just next to the town center. Banska Bystrica is one of the more beautiful cities in Slovakia, it's totally worth a visit. Gran hostel is probably the best I have been staying so far in Slovakia.
Nice place, with comfortable atmosphere. The staff was really nice too. In overall it was really pleasant experience!
Such a great hostel! Located right near the centre of town and on the same street as the SNU museum. Our room, the kitchen and the bathroom were all very clean and stylish and warm even though it was snowing outside. Anna who checked us in was very friendly and made sure we were comfortable. She also gave us lots of helpful tips and ideas and reccommendations. Definitely one of the best hostels I have ever been in and would definitely go back!!
