STEP-IN is an international medical humanitarian NGO based in Slovakia, providing aid to the victims of war in northern Iraq. Created in January 2015, the project grew over the years to three well-equipped medical clinics employing ten medical doctors and a range of support personnel. We are serving both the displaced and host populations in Iraqi Kurdistan Region. We take particular pride in the quality and efficiency of the services we provide. Many of our foreign personnel, including medical doctors, are volunteers. We take great care to reduce to the essential minimum the non-medical costs of our activities so that our patients benefit from the largest possible part of the funds we are entrusted with. By employing local team members specifically out of the displaced Iraqis most affected by the war, we contribute even more to the reconstruction of lives of these suffering communities. Engaging foreign medical doctors, volunteers and other staff from countries like Slovakia, Poland, Ukraine, France, Czech Rep. or US, to work hand in hand in the field with the local team members, contributes to building enduring bridges between this war torn country and the rest of the World. Services available in our clinics include: - preventive services - primary and secondary health care services - laboratory services (biochemistry, haematology, microbiology etc.) - medicine provision - nutritional screening and support - prenatal and postnatal care
