Founded in 1971, the Bulgarian cultural institute is an intellectual center which unites the Bulgarian community and represents Bulgaria's traditions, values and talent. The mission of the Institute is to promote contemporary Bulgarian culture with the help of well known established artists and young promising talent; To provide international spiritual exchange and contribute to deepening friendly relations between the Slovakian and Bulgarian people. Last but not least to be convincingly present in the network of the European cultural institutions. The Bulgarian cultural institute is a foreign department of the Ministry of culture of the Republic of Bulgaria in the the Republic of Slovakia. The Ministry of Culture of Bulgaria and the Ministry of Culture in Slovakia re-established a billateral cultural exchange program in 2015. This makes the Bulgarian cultural institute main partner of the Bulgarian and Slovakian cultural and artistic institutions in their joint activities.
