A nice looking statue in the town of Bratislava
If you're ever in Bratislava make sure you check out this!
This sculpture stands in tribute to Schöner Náci, who was inspired to make people happy by walking around Bratislava Old Town wearing tailcoat and a top hat. It’s said that he would greet women with the words, “I kiss your hand” in German, Hungarian and Slovak. This sculpture depicts Náci as a larger than life sculpture wearing the aforementioned attire and tipping his top hat to passersby. It’s a popular sculpture and there’s often a queue for people wanting selfies. What a wonderful tribute to unique individual.
The Schone Naci (Handsome Ignatius in Slovak) was a former servant in a well-to-do family in Bratislava. He self-adopted to the aristocracy and pretended to be one of the nobles. He liked luxurious clothes and greeted the passers-by with some condescension. The Schone Naci is the Bratislava's second most tacky attraction, after the Čumil - the Peeping Tom (just 10 meters away), but lovely one. Bratislaval probably is the only capital to commemorate a handsome fool.
According to the legend, he was in love with a woman who sadly did not love him back. This disappointed him so much that he went mad and people could often see him giving flowers to random women he met in the streets. He always wore a hat– which you can also see on the statue. Nevertheless, he seems very happy and joyful...
Memorial of a real person now dead that used to walk around in Bratislava and greet women with \I kiss your hand\ and he would receive free food from some cafes , he was always happy and spread good vibes.
